My DevaCurl Experience
Friday I had a very much needed hair appointment at Stella Luca Salon in Winter Park, Florida. I was slightly apprehensive because I’m used to going to more ethnic salons but my stylist had curly hair herself so I figured I would be in good hands, and I was not disappointed.
DevaCurl certified stylists know EVERYTHING about curl textures and how to care for them. My stylist Rocky educated me on so many different things I could have never imagined. One tip she gave me was to focus my conditioner on the front of my hair since it is the most manipulated and the least curly. Hearing this out loud made complete sense to me because I always struggled with getting the front part of my hair to curl like the rest.
We washed and conditioned my hair using DevaCurl products No-Poo Decadence and Deep Sea Repair. Prior to this, my hair was super dry and after the conditioning, the curls were nicely formed and so smooth to touch. I was shock!
Then we began with glazing my hair jet black! As I noticed before, my hair is darker on the inside but lighter around the perimeter, probably because of the sun. I wanted an edgy color all around and black was the way to go.
Fast-forwarding my time under the dryer to set my color, it was time for Rocky to shape my curls. She mainly cut the most on the sides and top of my hair. A DevaCut is tailored to your curl texture to better frame your face or give you body if you need it. I was so pleased with it. After, she diffused my hair and put some of the DevaCurl Light Defining Gel on the front of my hair. Of course, being type four hair it was not dry yet but about two hours later I was so thrilled with the final results!
I encourage anyone natural to see a curly hair specialists at some point before the end of the year. Often, we think we can do it on our own but a stylist can notice things about your hair that you might not. I’m so thrilled that I found someone who focuses on the health of my hair rather than the length. And for anyone in the Orlando area, Stella Luca is the place to go!”
